VITA-74, Small Form Factor is a new standard for a small form factor module to support serial fabrics in a ruggedized environment. The backplane topology and signaling is exactly the same as VITA-46 (VPX) and VITA-65 (OpenVPX), reducing risk and complexity. In that way you can get a very compact system: a five-slot cube measures 90 by 95 by 90 mm and can fit into SUGVs and small UAVs.
The self-contained nature of the boards also makes single-board systems amenable to use without a case.
